Scran is a mobile app that makes cooking easier and more accessible for neurodivergent cooks. Bring recipes from anywhere into a visual library, then simplify them into manageable tasks with prep upfront and ingredient amounts where you need them. Spend less energy following the recipe and more time enjoying the cooking.
Hello Product Hunt! 👋
We’re a fully bootstrapped team of two building the app from Scotland (scran = food!).
We’ve always been inspired by how technology can make everyday experiences more accessible. So when we looked at cooking, we saw how traditional recipes still ask people to do a lot of unnecessary mental work.
Dense instructions, hidden prep, ingredient amounts separated from the steps, and all the ads, pop-ups and backstories can make cooking feel overwhelming for many neurodivergent cooks.
We didn’t want to assume what a more accessible experience should look like. So we co-created and tested Scran with 200 neurodivergent cooks over the last year. Their experiences shaped the product we’re launching today.
With Scran, you can:
🍴 Save recipes from anywhere into one calm, visual library - whether social media, websites or even your photos
✨ Simplify recipes into smaller, easier-to-follow tasks with prep upfront and ingredient amounts where you need them
✅ Focus on one step at a time and tick off tasks as you cook
⚖️ Scale servings and convert measurements
🔤 Choose accessible fonts and dark mode
🛒 Create shopping lists automatically, sorted by aisle
🗂️ Organise recipes into your own collections
We’ve built Scran to take some of the mental load out of choosing, organising, shopping for and following recipes, so more people can cook with confidence, enjoy the process and do it more often.
Scran is a paid app, now available on iOS and Android with a 14-day free trial.
We’ll be here throughout the launch and would very much value your support and feedback. How would you like to see the product develop?
