Hey Product Hunt, I'm Alexey Murmulev, founder of Guidesnap 👋🏻
The honest version: this started with a complaint from my wife.
She works in IT and kept hitting the same wall: a 60-minute screen recording someone actually needed to follow. Watch, pause, screenshot, type, repeat. Every week. If she was losing hours to it, plenty of people were too.
I went looking for a tool to solve it. Everything was either a clunky browser extension or priced like enterprise software. Nothing that just took a finished recording and gave back a polished PDF, simple enough for anyone who sits through video calls.
So I built Guidesnap. Upload a screen recording → AI transcribes the narration, detects the real steps, grabs screenshots at the right moments, and ships a clean PDF guide in minutes. Step looks off? Edit it in the browser and rebuild, no re-uploading.
Who it's for: onboarding docs, SOPs, internal playbooks, product tutorials, customer how-tos. Built for anyone who explains software on screen and needs something shareable, not just another Loom link.
Try it: guidesnap.app, 3 free guides, no card.
🎉 To celebrate our launch, use code PHLAUNCH10 for 10 free guides. First 250 accounts, valid through July 25.
Would love your honest feedback. Specifically:
What kind of guides would you generate first?
What's missing before you'd replace your current doc workflow?
Any bugs or rough edges? Reply here or DM me.
I'm here all day, reply with anything.
Thanks to our hunter @kevin, the PH team, and everyone trying Guidesnap today.
I record a LOT of product demos, and the worst part was always what came after: writing separate step-by-step docs so customers wouldn't have to rewatch a 20-min video to find one moment. GuideSnap kills that whole step and turns the demo itself into the documentation. Didn't expect a tool like this to exist yet, honestly.
The customer-side win is even bigger. Mine used to scrub through long recordings hunting for the one relevant part. Giving them a guide they can scan instead removes so much friction. Already planning to share this with my team🙌🏻 Congrats on the launch!
Question: is there an HTML/rich-text editor for the generated steps? Would love to bold key terms and add numbered or bulleted lists so steps are easier to scan. Already possible, or on the roadmap?
@kiskiskiss Thanks so much! You nailed exactly why I built it, that "writing the doc after the demo" step was the thing I wanted gone. And good question. The interactive demo shows an older version of the editor, but the current version already has full HTML editing, so you can bold key terms and add numbered or bulleted lists to make steps easier to scan. Exactly what you're describing. Would love to hear how it works for your demos once you try it!🤝🏻
honestly this looks super useful for our onboarding docs, one thing that would help a lot is letting you brand the PDF with a custom logo and color scheme so it actually looks like it came from us and not just some generic template
@emirhan265511 Thanks Emirhan! You can already add your logo and company name to the PDF. Different templates are already on the roadmap, and full brand customization (custom colors and all) is something I'm actively thinking about, so this is a really useful nudge. Onboarding docs are exactly what a lot of people are using it for. Are you onboarding for a specific tool or a whole internal process?
One thing I'd love is a way to auto-translate guides into other languages using the same screenshots. Our team is spread across three countries and we end up duplicating docs for everyone. Would save us a ton of time.
@ekayal10109 That's a great one, Eda. Auto-translate with the same screenshots makes total sense, especially for teams split across countries. It's actually on my radar since the transcription step already gives me the text to work with. How many languages would your team need?
Love how it rebuilds the PDF in the browser without re-uploading — that little detail saves so much friction when tweaking steps after a fresh take.
@doaniikrinu Thanks Doğan! Yeah, re-uploading a full 60-min video just to fix one step drove me nuts, so I made the rebuild happen right in the browser. Way less painful now. What kind of guides would you use it for?
