Hey Product Hunt — I'm Arshad, solo indie developer behind Clean Kit.
I built Clean Kit because I was frustrated with every "storage cleaner" on the App Store. They all had the same problems: they upload your photos to their servers, require you to create an account, or just show you what Apple's Settings app already tells you. Some charged $50/year for glorified file browsers.
So I built what I actually wanted — an AI-powered photo cleaner that never leaves your device.

One of the things I'm most proud of is the duplicate detection engine. It doesn't just compare file names — it runs a multi-phase pipeline: dimension matching, clustering, file tolerance, and visual decoding using on-device AI. It catches near-duplicates that look identical to your eyes but have different file hashes.
Here's what else it does:
• Find my blurry photos — uses edge detection to surface out-of-focus shots across your entire library
• Clean up old screenshots — groups them by age (7 days, 30 days, 90+ days) for one-tap bulk deletion
• Compress my videos — encoding with 3 quality tiers, shrinks videos up to 80% while keeping originals safe
• Convert Live Photos — strips the video component from Live Photos to reclaim space
• Clean WhatsApp junk — removes auto-saved media you never asked for
The app supports 15 languages. It works on both iPhone and iPad. And it comes with Home Screen widgets and Siri Shortcuts so you can check storage without even opening the app.
I've been an iOS developer for more than a decade, and I built Clean Kit with the same frameworks Apple uses internally — Swift, SwiftUI, CoreML, Vision. Every scan, every detection, every compression happens on your hardware. Your photos never touch a server.

Why I built Clean Kit with zero data collection
When I was researching competitors before building Clean Kit, I downloaded the top 5 photo cleaners on the App Store and ran them through a proxy to see what data they send.
Most of them were uploading photo metadata — timestamps, GPS coordinates, device info — to their servers. Some were uploading thumbnail previews for "cloud-based AI analysis."
I decided Clean Kit would never do that. Every scan, every detection, every compression runs entirely on your iPhone using Apple's Core Engine.
The app works in airplane mode. Check Apple's privacy label for Clean Kit — it says "No Data Collected."
What's coming next for Clean Kit
Wanted to share what I'm working on based on early user feedback:
• Contact photo cleanup — find and merge duplicate contacts with similar photos
• iCloud optimization mode — identify which photos are worth keeping in iCloud.
• Mac version — same Core engine, native macOS app
