Ever wondered if you're actually coding — or just watching AI do it? AIbubu is a desktop pet that monitors your AI coding tools and turns activity into steps. A Fitbit for coding. Idle → slacking. Sprint → locked in Turn on LAN discovery to race coworkers on a leaderboard. Productivity has never been this silly • Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, Codex CLI & more • 8 pixel-art skins + custom import • Daily step counts with history • macOS, Windows • Tauri + Rust • Free & open source (MIT)

Hey everyone 👋
I'm the maker of AIbubu. Let me tell you how this thing came about.
A few months ago I was deep into a coding session with Cursor, and at some point I looked up and realized — I genuinely had no idea if I'd been productive or just watching the AI write code for me. Like, was I actually doing anything? Or was I just vibing?
That thought stuck with me. So I started thinking: what if there was something that could just... show me? Not in a dashboard-with-charts kind of way, but something more fun. Something I could glance at.
That's how AIbubu started. A tiny pixel pet that sits on your desktop and reacts to how actively you're coding with AI tools. If you're locked in, it sprints. If you're slacking off, it just stands there judging you silently lol.
Then I added LAN discovery, and things got out of hand. My coworkers started competing over who had more steps. Someone literally said "I can't stop coding because my pet is standing still and everyone can see." That's when I knew I had to ship this.
A few things I'm proud of:
It's built with Tauri 2 + Rust, so it's actually lightweight (~15MB). No Electron.
It supports major AI coding tools — Cursor, Claude Code, Codex CLI, and Trae — with a plugin system for adding more.
The skin system lets you swap pet characters. We have 8 built-in ones and you can import your own.
It's fully open source under MIT.
Would love to hear what you think. I'm here all day so hit me with questions, feedback, feature requests, anything. And if you try it, please let me know which skin you picked — I'm genuinely curious what people choose lol.
