Hi PH! I'm Emilie — I built FixDinner after stepping away from my job last June and taking a break from 20+ years in tech operations and delivery. Somewhere between updating my resume and questioning everything, I decided to build the thing I actually needed.
Six weeks, 72 test builds, zero coding experience. I designed every screen in Figma and used AI tools (Cursor + Claude) to build a real Flutter/Dart codebase — not a no-code drag-and-drop thing. Supabase for the backend, Claude Haiku API powering the suggestions.
The hardest part wasn't the tech — it was getting the AI to suggest actual edible food. Early on it recommended cookies without sugar because it was optimizing for ingredient matching. There was a learning curve for both of us.
The moment that made it real: my teenagers now voluntarily cook dinner. If it can do that, it can do anything.
