General Legal is an AI-native, Slack-first law firm for start-ups. Founded by Harvard Law grads, BigLaw alum and Casetext engineers, our top tier attorneys use AI to turn sales contracts in minutes or hours, not days or weeks, for a fraction of the price.

Congratulations on the launch team!
Curious to know how all the regulations are written and reviewed because there would be people across the world in some global remote companies, and laws/regulations might be different for all? How does General Legal manage that? Or is it limited to only few geographies atm?
@krupali_trivediΒ Thanks - and great question! We are limited to US law at the moment but we are able to advise companies domiciled in every US state.
π Hello Product Hunt! JP here, co-founder of General Legal β the AI-native law firm built by lawyers and AI engineers from the team that sold Casetext to Thomson Reuters for $650M.
We're on a mission to fix how contracts get negotiated.
The problem with legal today:
Day-to-day commercial contracts for start-ups β MSAs, NDAs, DPAs, statements of work -- take waaaaay too long to negotiate.
These aren't bet-the-company deals, they're the run-the-company deals that just need to get done fast, correctly, and without breaking the bank. Yet the options are: (1) pay BigLaw rates for work they don't really want and won't prioritize, (2) wing it on ChatGPT, or (3) let agreements pile up unsigned while your sales team waits.
None of those are good options.
What we built:
β‘ Upload your contract via Slack β yes, Slack. Your dedicated channel is live within minutes of signing your engagement letter.
π€ Our AI takes the first pass β pulling in your client context, deal history, and preferences to flag what actually matters in this specific document.
π¨ββοΈ A real attorney reviews everything β attorney eyes go on every single document before it goes back to you. No exceptions.
π¬ 3-hour SLA, flat fee pricing β $250 for contracts under 3 pages, $500 for 3β50 pages, $10/page beyond that. No hourly billing surprises.
Why we're different from a law firm that "uses AI":
We're not a traditional firm that bought a tool. We're engineers and lawyers who built the tooling ourselves and use it to deliver legal services directly to clients. We invest everything into making the firm faster and better, the same way a SaaS company would β because that's the only way to eventually compete at the scale we're aiming for.
We started with commercial contracts for startups and growth companies because that's where the pain is most acute and most underserved. From here, we're expanding.
The backstory:
Our founding team spent years at Casetext building AI for lawyers. We saw firsthand that the technology was ready long before the delivery model caught up. General Legal is our answer to that gap β and we're proud to be part of the current Y Combinator batch as we build it out.
We'd love your feedback, your contracts, and your toughest counterparties. π
