Ever wished you could ask questions about a YouTube video instead of scrubbing through it? Chat2YouTube lets you have AI-powered conversations with any video's transcript. Just paste a link, and start chatting. Perfect for learning, research, and content exploration. Also ideal for those who are hard of hearing. They can read the transcript and ask questions on things you are confused on.

👋 Hey Product Hunt! I'm Ben, maker of Chat2YouTube.
I built this because I was tired of scrubbing through hour-long YouTube videos trying to find specific information. Why can't we just ask the video what we want to know?
**How it works:**
- Install our Chrome extension OR paste any YouTube video link
- While watching any YouTube video, click the "Chat with this video" button
- AI reads the transcript and generates a summary
- Ask anything about the video - the AI only answers from the transcript
- Your conversations are saved with video thumbnails for easy reference
What makes it different:
✅ Chrome Extension - Chat with videos directly while watching (no copy-paste needed!)
✅ URL trick - Prepend "chat2" to any YouTube URL (youtube.com → chat2youtube.com)
✅ Strict context boundaries - AI won't hallucinate or answer off-topic
✅ Unlimited messages per video - dig as deep as you want
✅ Chat history - Beautiful gallery of all your video conversations
✅ Powered by Claude AI - Fast, accurate, and context-aware
Perfect for:
- Anyone tired of rewinding videos! (me!!!)
- Students studying educational content
- Researchers analysing interviews/talks
- Developers watching tutorials
Two ways to use it:
- Extension (easiest): One-click from any YouTube video
- Website: Paste URLs or use the chat2 prepend trick
Pricing:
Free: 3 videos/month
Standard: Unlimited videos, 50 messages per video
Pro: Unlimited everything
Built with Next.js, Clerk, Supabase, and Anthropic's Claude API.
I'd love your feedback! (Genuinely!)
