Real Research for Talented Teenagers - Society of Teen Scientists

We built Society of Teen Scientists to give talented students access to the full research lifecycle before college: learning research skills, conducting original research projects under mentorship, and sharing results publicly. SoTS includes research clubs, labs, mentorship, a peer-reviewed journal, a magazine, an annual research conference, and tools like AI Research Mentor that support the research process.

We built Society of Teen Scientists based on years of direct experience running and supporting student research programs. We consistently ran into the same constraints: limited capacity, fragmented offerings, and few credible pathways for students to carry research work through to completion and publication. The problem we’re addressing is access to the full research lifecycle before college: learning research skills, conducting original research projects under mentorship, and sharing results through recognized venues. Our approach evolved from standalone research mentoring into building the infrastructure needed to support research end-to-end — from skills and mentorship to review, publication, and dissemination. We’re interested in how others here think about scaling research education responsibly, and where tools like AI genuinely help without distorting learning outcomes.
