LumiFind

Hi everyone,

I am Volkan, founder of MIDILLI Tech, a Germany based startup. We started out making custom MIDI hardware controllers and developed tools that help creators work better. As part of our own workflow we built an internal tool called LumiFind to solve the problem of finding files across drives and devices. After using it ourselves and improving it with feedback, we launched it on Kickstarter and it was a success thanks to our amazing 22 backers. You can see the campaign here.

LumiFind is an AI powered local semantic search engine that runs completely on your device. Your data is never uploaded to the cloud. It understands the meaning of your files and works with documents, images, emails including attachments, source code, voice recordings and video clips. You can also index content from network attached storage and cloud storage as long as they are mounted locally.

How LumiFind works

You select folders and drives to index. LumiFind analyzes files locally with smart incremental indexing. You enter a natural language search phrase, and it returns relevant results. It handles spelling mistakes and cross language queries in a natural way.

Why LumiFind is different

Many search tools today either rely on cloud services, have limited file type support, lack CLI or server options, or do not support remote drives. LumiFind brings all of this together in one product that you can install and use right away. It has real usability and ongoing improvements based on actual user feedback.

We built LumiFind because we experienced the pain of losing track of files, photos, notes, emails and recordings across many drives. After months of internal use and iterative improvements with our backers, LumiFind is now a mature product that helps your workflow without compromising privacy.

Future plans

Currently, it supports a user friendly interface for everyday users, plus a powerful command line version for servers and advanced workflows. For teams and enterprises, we are extending API support to enable shared analysis across multiple users and centralized data insights.

We are also building deeper integrations with enterprise systems to automatically analyze business documents such as purchase orders, contracts, service agreements and repair reports. With scalable search and analysis capabilities, LumiFind is designed to unlock value from documents without moving them to the cloud.

We also working on lightweight SIP voice support for LumiFind so that customer calls can be transcribed and semantically analyzed after calls. This gives smaller enterprises meaningful insights into call quality, customer intent and trends without needing a big IT setup or manual effort.
