I built DoubleCheck because I’m tired of fraud being something you only deal with after it happens. I’ve been the victim of identity theft. My grandparents got targeted with the “long lost relative” scam. My mom got hit with a fake toll text. And every time, the advice was basically: “report it,” “freeze your credit,” “call your bank”… which is helpful, but it’s all after the damage. What I think may help: a second opinion in the moment based on the situation. Someone to say, “Hey, this looks sketchy and here’s steps you can take to confirm” I’ve also seen the same pattern in my professional career, phishing that actually worked, account takeovers, social engineering that fooled smart people on busy days. The frustrating part is a lot of it was preventable if someone had better tools to evaluate the situation before anyone acted. Scams are getting more convincing and more frequent, especially now that AI makes it easier to execute fraud at scale. DoubleCheck is my attempt to give people and institutions a practical ally, an always available assistant to get a straight risk evaluation with analytics, and other tooling to help manage scams and frauds for their customers and team members.
