The original idea for VybeCam was born 2 years ago when one of our co-founders needed a great song to listen to for a moment while alone in his bedroom, and realized there was nothing out there that could give him just that, fast.

Shazam only worked when there was already a song playing. And Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube required searching and skipping until something actually hit.

He thought, what if there was a way to get the absolute best song of all songs for a moment from millions of songs out there.

The next day, he and our friend @donvuckovic started building the solution, which they then called SoulSong. SoulSong worked by filling out a survey of 7 questions and getting a match. After Q&A, they learned that people didn't want to fill out an entire survey to get a match.

So they had to make the process simpler, without reducing match accuracy. Then they remembered the quote "A picture is worth a thousand words", and knew exactly what they had to do.

Replace the survey with a camera.

Today, VybeCam is officially live on the App Store, and finding the perfect song for the moment went from requiring many dozen clicks to just taking one single picture.
