I built Farmers Assistant because I was tired of watching smallholder farmers struggle with the same problems 3 generations of my family had struggled with. As someone from a small farming community in rural Kenya, I have seen my neighbors drowning in generic advice, pesticide overuse, and climate chaos with no real support system. The problem: The current available farming support is either too generic (apps that ignore local contexts) or too inaccessible (experts who can’t scale to every small farm). What makes Farmers Assistant different: WhatsApp-native advice- Farmers ask anything in any local language and they get hyperlocal, step-by-step recommendations. Voice-first design- Send voice notes, hear audio replies back. Zero literacy barriers. Weather-smart alerts- “Don’t plant tomorrow – heavy rains coming!” Proactive guidance- Catch problems before they destroy your harvest Why we built it: We wanted to bring the same accessibility to farming advice that we have in other industries - instant, local, and actually useful. Tested with 250+ Kenyan farmers with 20% average yield boost and 40% less chemical use. Getting started is dead simple - farmers just save our number and text “HELLO”.
