YourKeep - Protect important files without trusting a single company.

Most backups depend on one company. YourKeep doesn't. YourKeep encrypts files locally, splits them into independent recovery chunks, and lets you store them across any cloud providers, NAS, or local drives. The protocol is open source. Recovery is free forever.

Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Jason, the solo developer behind YourKeep. The idea started with a simple question: What happens if the company you're trusting with your backup disappears? Most backup solutions still depend on a single provider. Your files may be encrypted, but your ability to recover them often depends on one account, one service, or one company continuing to exist. I wanted to build something different. YourKeep encrypts files locally, splits them into independent recovery chunks, and lets you store those chunks anywhere you choose—different cloud providers, NAS devices, external drives, or offline storage. There are: • No accounts • No company-operated servers • No vendor lock-in More importantly, the core protocol, encryption, and recovery implementation are open source, and file recovery will remain free. Even if YourKeep disappeared one day, your data shouldn't disappear with it. I'd really love your feedback, especially on these questions: Does the idea make sense? Is the workflow easy to understand? What would make you trust a backup tool like this? I'll be here all day to answer every question. Thank you for checking out YourKeep! ❤️
