Daily word games hand you one puzzle with one answer. Wordsicle hands everyone the same twelve letter dice and no answer at all. Connect all twelve into one crossword. Two finishers rarely build the same grid. One attempt a day. Long words and crossing letters score highest, and the best boards top a daily leaderboard. Share cards hide your letters, so you can post yours before friends play. Open a friend's link and they become your rival. Free on iPhone and Android. No ads, no account.

I built the first version of this for my mom.

She plays a letter dice crossword game at the kitchen table, and she wanted it on her phone for the days nobody is around to play with. Feature requests from your mother do not go in a backlog.

The first build was React Native, and dragging a tile felt like dragging a div. In a game where the only verb is dragging a tile, that was the whole problem, so I rewrote it in SwiftUI, then ported the engine to Kotlin so Android rolls the same twelve dice on the same day.

Two things changed the game more than any feature I planned.

The dictionary. I started with a 370,000 word list because bigger sounded better. It accepted SCR and MHZ, so winning sometimes felt like getting away with something. I moved to ENABLE, the list most word games are built on, and added newer words like EMAIL and EMOJI. Smaller list, harder game, better game.

The unsolvable days. A stricter list means some racks cannot be built into a crossword at all, and there is no way to eyeball which ones. So I ran a solver over every daily roll for the next ten years: 41 had no solution. Those days get different dice now, each with a confirmed solution.

Each day also counts once. Your first finish is your score, and that is what made a leaderboard worth building. When a day closes, the top boards are revealed with their letters, and seeing what someone built from the dice you struggled with is my favorite part of the game.

It is free on the App Store and Google Play, with no account and no ads. Today's roll is the same twelve dice for you as it is for me, so if you play it, I would love to see your grid.
