Would you trust a PDF tool more if you could prove your file never left your browser?
Most online PDF tools ask you to upload a document and trust that it will be deleted later.
I wanted to try a different approach with ToolPDFs. The document never reaches a ToolPDFs server. The browser performs the work locally, and users can open the Network panel to verify it themselves.
This creates some honest tradeoffs. Processing speed depends on your device.
Very large files depend on available browser memory. Features such as cloud storage, collaboration, and server powered OCR are harder to offer. But for contracts, invoices, financial records, identification documents, and personal files, I think that tradeoff may be worthwhile.
I am curious where the Product Hunt community stands:
Would verifiable local processing influence which document tool you choose?
Or do convenience and advanced cloud features matter more than where the file is processed?
There is no correct answer. I would genuinely like to understand how people think about this before ToolPDFs launches.
This should attract stronger opinions and more meaningful replies than a standard feature announcement.
