Hey, thanks for checking out ThinkRows! Here’s the story... A few months ago, our team was handed the kind of Excel files that make you close your laptop and stare out the window for a while. There was no clear schema, several tables were mixed into the same sheets, and much of the meaning was hidden in abbreviations and “everyone here knows what this means” terminology. Before cleaning anything, we needed to answer a more basic question: Is this data actually useful - and can it support the questions we care about? Finding out took several weeks of opening files, locating the real tables, tracing relationships, decoding business logic, and documenting assumptions. We eventually got there, but the discovery work was slow, repetitive, and unsurprisingly exhausting. That experience led me to build ThinkRows. ThinkRows is designed for the first discovery pass over Excel files, before you invest significant data science resources. It: - identifies tables hidden across sheets - maps the relationships between them - summarizes what the dataset appears to cover - checks whether the dataset supports your business questions and highlights where more data is needed - supports data transformations that turn the relevant information into a clean, reviewed workbook The goal is not to replace analysts. It is to help them understand what they have before spending days cleaning and transforming data, or building reports from the wrong data. For this launch, we also created an interactive sales report demo that shows the full flow - from a workbook containing mixed tables and notes to a focused, usable result.
