From kitchen-table problem to launched product

by•

Hey Product Hunt! 👋

I'm Michael homeschool dad, lead engineer, and the builder of Homeschool Ranch. Launching this today, solo, after months of nights and weekends.

The problem: lesson planning eats homeschool parents alive. Hours every week hunting materials, and what you find never matches how you actually teach. The existing AI lesson tools are built for classroom teachers first — they generate standards-aligned classroom content with a "homeschool" checkbox bolted on.

The insight: homeschoolers don't buy lessons, they buy philosophy. A Charlotte Mason family and a STEM-focused family don't want the same lesson with different topics they want fundamentally different kinds of content: different methods, tone, and activities. So that's what I built.

What it does: pick from 16 teaching philosophies (Charlotte Mason, Montessori, Classical, unschooling, faith-based, and more), enter any topic and grade (K–12), and get a complete lesson in under a minute key facts, vocabulary, activities, discussion questions, and a quiz. It also generates multi-day curriculum plans, printable worksheets, flashcards, and coloring pages tied to the topic. There's an interactive child-facing lesson mode that walks your kid through the lesson step by step and ends with a live quiz, with scores tracked per child.

Pricing: 7-day free trial with full access, no charge until it ends. Then $9.99/mo or $99/yr (two months free). Unlimited everything on both plans.

The stack, for the curious: Next.js, Supabase, Stripe, deployed on Vercel and built heavily with Claude Code, which is how a dad with a full-time job ships a full product solo.

I launched today, so you're seeing this at day zero. I'd genuinely love your feedback — especially from anyone who homeschools or knows a family that does. What's missing? What would make this indispensable for you?

Thanks for checking it out!
