Launching The Attic Suite this Sunday — the backstory, and I'd love your take before I do

Hi all 👋 I'm Michael, launching The Attic Suite here on Sunday. Wanted to start a thread ahead of it — to share the backstory and get your input before launch day.

It began with one stubborn problem: consolidating my family's email. It turned out to be 736,000 messages across 236 old backup files — half of them duplicates. I built a local tool to fix it, then realized the same mess was everywhere: 472,982 photos across drives and dead phones, documents in a hundred folders, chat exports nobody could open, contacts split across a stack of old phones. Same problem, five times over.

So it became five small desktop apps — EmailAttic, PictureAttic, DocAttic, ChatAttic, ContactAttic — that each gather your scattered data, de-duplicate it, and organize it into one archive on your own computer. Everything runs locally: nothing uploaded, no account, no subscription.

Two things I'd genuinely love your take on:

1. Does "local-only, nothing ever leaves your machine" still resonate in 2026 — or do people now just expect cloud sync?
