Hey, Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Nick, solo maker of Tally. I built this because every habit app I tried treated a missed day like a personal failure: broken streak flames, guilt notifications, leaderboards I never asked to be on. I'd start strong, miss one day, and just... quit. Not because I stopped caring about the habit, but because the app made missing a day feel like resetting to zero. So I built the tracker I actually wanted: no streaks, no badges, no social feed. Just a quiet, honest daily record of what I'm building and what I'm breaking — with a soft 21-day trend instead of a shame-inducing streak counter, so one off day doesn't erase weeks of real progress. The biggest shift while building it: I kept catching myself wanting to add a streak counter or a badge "just to make it more motivating" — and each time, I had to sit with why that felt wrong for this app, and leave it out. The whole point was building something without those pressure tactics, so I had to keep resisting the urge to sneak them back in. A few other things I cared about: - No accounts, no ads, no data leaving your phone everything stays local - Build habits and break habits tracked side by side, not lumped together - A calendar where consistency shows up as size, not angry red vs. green It started as something I just wanted for myself, and turned into this once friends kept asking to use it too. Would love your feedback especially from anyone else who's burned out on gamified productivity apps. Happy to answer anything about the build, the design choices, or what's next.
