I am constantly on the lookout for the next movie or tv show to watch, but often basic reviews and ratings are misleading. There are plenty of popular options that I have invested time into only to find that it really does not appeal to my specific tastes.
Often, I can only trust that I'll like something based on a recommendation from someone I know has a good track record. But even then, it's impossible to find someone who knows exactly what I like and truly shares my perspective on what makes a good piece of entertainment.
So I made a mobile app called Swipe Club to help me find such a person. Users can simply swipe on movies and tv shows to build up their taste profile. Then a daily algorithm will find similar users for everyone and give recommendations based on their likes and favourites. Now I can find that exact person that likes and dislikes exactly what I do, so no more wasted time spending hours sitting through something hoping it gets good. Now my top match will hopefully be able to find my next favourite movie and/or show for me.
