Stream Deck turns the things you do all day — open an app, a URL, a project folder, a shell script, a System Settings panel — into one-click buttons in your menu bar. The menu bar isn't a convenience here, it's the whole app: LSUIElement is YES, so there's no Dock icon and no window to switch to. Click the icon, the deck drops down, you click a button, it fires, you're back to work. A second entry point — a draggable floating tab you can pin anywhere on screen — opens the same deck on hover.

I kept catching myself doing the same thing a dozen times a day: opening the same four tabs every morning, launching the same apps, pasting the same Terminal command I'd already typed a hundred times. I looked at the Elgato Stream Deck and loved the idea — but I didn't want another piece of hardware on my desk for something my Mac could already do. ▎ ▎ So I built Stream Deck: a menu bar app with a grid of programmable buttons. Each one opens a website, launches an app, opens a file or folder, or runs a shell command. One click, done. ▎ ▎ A few decisions I made along the way: ▎ ▎ • Menu bar first. It had to be one click away from anywhere, never a window to manage. There's also a floating tab on the edge of the screen if you prefer hovering over clicking the icon. ▎ • No account, no cloud, no subscription. It's a one-time purchase and everything stays on your Mac. Your buttons are your buttons. ▎ • Sandboxed and App Store reviewed. Shell commands run through a strict whitelist — I'd rather ship something safe than something that can run anything. ▎ ▎ The hardest part wasn't the buttons — it was making the hover-to-open floating panel feel instant. I went through three different approaches before landing on one that never lags. ▎ ▎ Happy to answer anything.
