I'm Gustav, solo developer at AppVerge, and I'm excited to launch SnappyNotes 2.0 today.
SnappyNotes started because I kept losing quick thoughts. Opening a "real" notes app always meant switching context, waiting for it to load, and hunting for where I left off. I wanted something closer to a scratchpad than an app, but one that still let me write proper Markdown, drop in an image or a quick diagram, and never lose any of it.
SnappyNotes lives as a sidebar at the edge of your screen. Open it with a gesture, write, and keep going, without ever leaving the app you're in.
2.0 is the biggest update since launch:
- Live-preview Markdown editing, so headings, bold, quotes and tables render inline as you type
- Images, math expressions, and flow charts, all rendered right inside the note
- Tappable checkboxes and syntax-highlighted code blocks
- A "/" command menu to insert anything fast
- A floating notes window for when you need more room
- Open Markdown files straight from Finder
- Beautiful PDF export that keeps math, diagrams, tables and images intact
- A fresh new app icon and a redesigned interface
Everything autosaves and syncs across Mac, iPhone and iPad through iCloud.

the sidebar placement is honestly so smart, like it stays out of your way until you actually need it. really clean execution on something that sounds simple but usually ends up feeling clunky.

Sidebar notepads usually get in the way, but this one stays tucked off to the side and feels really unobtrusive. Caught myself jotting down quick thoughts without losing focus on the main window.

Love how minimal the sidebar feels. One thing I'd love is keyboard shortcut customization so I can bind the toggle to something that doesn't conflict with my editor's shortcuts, maybe with a profile per app.
