We just shipped v1.6.0 for Windows. This one is focused on making it easier to connect, especially for in-car use.
Hotspot Without Internet
A new "Hotspot with loopback interface" mode lets your PC broadcast a hotspot even when it has no internet connection. Great for Tesla setups where you just want to extend your display without needing to tether your phone.
Connection Mode Selector
Three connection modes to choose from: Same network, Hotspot with internet, or Hotspot with loopback. Each mode has an inline description so you know exactly what it does.
Getting Started Tutorial
A new in-app tutorial walks you through your first connection. It auto-shows on first launch and branches based on your device (Tesla vs. laptop/tablet) to guide you to the right connection mode. You can reopen it anytime from Help > Getting Started.
Release Notes on Update
After an update, SideDisplay now shows what's changed since your previous version on first launch. You can also view the full history anytime from Help > Release Notes.
DHCP Reliability
Fixed several issues that could leave clients stuck during connection after an update. Connections should now be much more reliable across all modes.
Stability & Polish
PIN is now verified before display selection so a wrong PIN no longer gets you stuck
Offline diagnostic reports are queued and sent automatically on next launch
