Would your own face stop you from scrolling?

by•

Hi everyone,

I'm Moorthy, a solo developer. Most screen time apps I tried were either easy to ignore, or so harsh and strict that I gave up. So I'm building Cue with a more human approach: an app that helps you stop yourself, instead of just blocking you.

Here's how it works: During setup, you record a short video of why you want less screen time. When you’ve been on an app too long, it pops up and asks you to stop and think. Your apps only lock if you keep going past your limit.

When I describe this to people, the reactions are split. Some say it would totally work on them. Others say they'd hate seeing their own face. So I'm asking here, where people don't know me:

  • Would seeing your own face make you put the phone down, or just feel awkward?

  • The video is required now, since I think it's what makes Cue work. Some early testers want it optional. Which would you pick, and why?

Thank you everyone
