What makes you trust a source code listing?

by

I’m building , a marketplace for source code, scripts, plugins, templates, and self-hosted applications.

One challenge I keep coming back to is trust.

When buyers evaluate a code asset, they often cannot inspect the full source code before purchasing. They have to rely on the demo, documentation, seller profile, technical requirements, licensing terms, reviews, and update history.

For those of you who have purchased source code before:

What information gave you enough confidence to buy?

And what warning signs made you leave a listing immediately?

I’m especially interested in real experiences with:

  • live demos,

  • documentation,

  • framework and runtime versions,

  • licensing,

  • seller credibility,

  • updates and support.

I’d like to understand which trust signals actually matter in practice, not just which ones look good on a product page.
