⏱️ The 3 seconds that cost me job offers — winInterview launches this week 🚀
Hey PH 👋
I'm Carlos, a full-stack dev from Colombia. Nine years working remotely with US teams, and more technical interviews in English than I'd like to admit.
Here's the part nobody talks about: the gap between what you can build and what you can explain under pressure in your second language. I've watched strong engineers get rejected in round one not for the algorithm, but for the three seconds where they didn't catch the question and answered something else. Then they spend the rest of the call recovering instead of thinking.
winInterview is what I built for that moment. winInterview is a desktop app that floats as an invisible overlay on Zoom/Meet/Teams and assists you in real time during a job interview.
It listens to the audio (microphone + system) and transcribes it with Deepgram; an LLM (DeepSeek) suggests answers instantly, and with Ctrl+Shift+C/A it can read screenshots of your screen to solve technical exercises.
It's a paid app with plans (free/lite/pro/ultra). The higher-tier plans unlock invisible mode, multiple screenshots, and interview context (your CV and the job posting are embedded in the prompt for personalized responses).
Two things I got wrong before landing on it:
I built for "people learning English." Way too broad. It only started working when I narrowed to one person: a mid/senior LATAM engineer, B1-B2 English, interviewing for a US remote role. Everything else fell into place after that.
I over-engineered the architecture before I had a single user. I've since rebuilt it, and the lessons from that mistake are now the foundation of everything I ship.
I'm launching in the next few days. If this problem sounds familiar, I'd love your feedback.
Happy to answer anything about the build.
