STARTDB: making Korean company research easier to evaluate
Disclosure: I operate STARTDB. This product introduction was prepared with AI assistance using our public product pages. The screenshots below are from the official site, captured on November 2, 2026; they are not customer results or proof of a completed API integration.
The problem I want to discuss
A company list can look useful while still being a poor basis for a decision. A regional supplier search, an industry comparison, and a product-market research brief need different filters and different evidence. Before collecting more rows, it helps to write the decision the list is supposed to support and the information it cannot establish.
What STARTDB currently describes
STARTDB is a Korean business-data platform. Our public guide describes company, region, and industry search, while the developer documentation covers REST API and MCP access. Export availability, database scope, and API access depend on the applicable plan and credits. This is a product overview, not a promise that every dataset contains every field or that every plan supports the same workflow.

Official STARTDB homepage. Product positioning, not an independent performance claim.

Official search guide. Check the fields and scope available for your intended query.

Official data center. Counts and availability are self-reported and may change.

Official REST API and MCP documentation page. No paid API call was made for this post.
A practical research workflow
Start with one bounded question, such as which regions deserve further supplier research. Record the search scope and date, then inspect the fields available in the relevant database. Keep facts returned by a source separate from a team’s interpretation. A candidate appearing in a list does not establish purchasing intent, operational suitability, or permission to contact it.
Important limits
The Search Studio, folder-based datasets, and custom dataset-composition experience shown as coming soon are not presented here as released features. Newly collected records are not necessarily newly opened businesses. Data-center counts describe the service’s own collection, not a complete census or a guarantee of accuracy. Some listed categories currently have no records, so check the current coverage rather than assuming every category is ready.
Feedback I would value
For makers who evaluate external business data: what information do you need before deciding a dataset is useful enough to integrate? Is source provenance, collection time, a clear missing-field description, or a representative sample most important in your workflow? I would be interested in specific cases where a technically correct dataset was still unsuitable for the decision you needed to make.
