I wanted my phone to buzz when something happened. So I built Trigv.

Hi, I’m Harish. I design and build small web products, and one of them is trigv, a simple push notification service for developers.

The idea is straightforward: send a request from your code when something happens, like a deploy failing, a background job finishing, or a payment coming in, and get a push notification on your phone.

There are already plenty of good tools that do this. I built because I wanted my own version, with privacy as part of how it works. Notification content stays on your device; the server only keeps the metadata needed to deliver and manage it.

I’ve been using it myself and slowly adding the things I need. There is a lot more I want to build, although keeping everything in parity across iOS and Android is becoming one of the harder parts.

Two things I’d like your take on:

  1. Is the copy on the site clear? If you land on it, do you understand what trigv does within 10 seconds?

  2. What should the price be? Right now there’s a lifetime deal starting at $29, then $39/year and $99/year. No monthly plan. Does that feel right? What would you actually pay for something like this?
