What's the most convincing scam message you've ever received? 🦆
My mom called me last month, a little embarrassed: "Is this real?"
It was a text saying her bank account would be locked in 24 hours - right logo, her name, a link one letter off from the real domain. She almost tapped it.
She's not careless. Phishing has gotten genuinely good, and it hits the people we love the most - parents, grandparents, anyone who isn't online all day. The old advice ("just look for typos") doesn't work anymore.
That experience is why we built Scampilot (launching today 👉 Scampilot.de): paste any suspicious email, SMS, link, photo or QR code and get a plain-language answer in 5 seconds - Looks safe / Be careful / Likely a scam - with the reasons and what to do next.
Free, no account, EU-hosted.
But I'm genuinely curious about everyone here:
What's the most convincing scam you've gotten? The one that made you pause?
Who's the family member you keep "rescuing" from scams - and how do you handle it?
Do you think people are getting better at spotting these, or are scammers winning?
Drop your worst/weirdest examples below - I'll run them through Scampilot and post what it flags. Let's make the comment section a little scam-spotting masterclass. 👇
