Retriever is a free native Mac API client. Send HTTP requests, organize them in collections, switch environments, and chain one response into the next with {{.body.token}}, no scripts. OAuth 2.0 with auto-refresh, a fast JSON tree, ⌘K for everything, code generation in 7 languages. Imports Postman, cURL and OpenAPI. Everything is plain JSON on your disk: no account, no cloud. Ships with an MCP server so Claude, Cursor and other agents can use your collections.

Hi Product Hunt 👋 Paw (later RapidAPI for Mac) was my favourite API client for years. On 16 September it was discontinued, with no macOS 27 support. I didn't want to go back to an Electron app that wants me to sign in before I can send a GET, so I built Retriever. What it is: - A real Mac app (SwiftUI), small and fast - Your workspace is one plain JSON file on disk. Diff it, commit it, back it up. No account, nothing synced anywhere - Response chaining without scripts: right-click a value in any response, "Copy as Chain Reference", paste it into another request. Retriever shows which requests depend on which and runs the chain in order - OAuth 2.0 (PKCE, client credentials, device code…) with tokens refreshed for you - Undo for everything, plus version history for the workspace and per request - Import from Postman, cURL, OpenAPI/Swagger. Export back to Postman - An MCP server bundled in the app, so your coding agent can list, edit and send your requests. Its changes show up in the sidebar within a second It's free. No trial, no licence key, no paid tier. There's an optional pay-what-you-want link if you'd like to support it. AI features (explain a failed response, suggest chains) are off until you add your own TypeSafe, Anthropic or OpenAI key. Migrating from Paw?
