I’m a student at the University of Michigan, and this past year I started experimenting with sneaker reselling, buying heat drops and flipping them on StockX, eBay, and Facebook Marketplace. One of the first pairs I sold on StockX was profitable on paper… but after fees, I actually lost money. That was frustrating, but what stuck with me more was this: even when you do make money, you’re not building anything. No brand, no returning buyers, no long-term value. At the same time, I’ve been working on my own niche sneaker brand, and I kept running into the same problem; no real way to build trust or connect directly with buyers, especially at higher price points. Relay came out of those two experiences. It’s a marketplace built for resellers who want to actually grow something, where your reputation carries, buyers can follow you, and your business compounds over time. The low fees help, but the bigger goal is giving resellers a real home.
