I built this because I was doing mental math at the grocery store trying to figure out which protein source was actually the best deal. I looked for an app that could do this and couldn't find one, so I built one. I did find some websites that compare protein powder prices but I don't exactly want to live off of just protein powder forever. A lot of "high protein" products are actually terrible value per gram. For example, some protein bars cost 3-4x more per gram than basic whey or chicken breast. The packaging makes them look like a smart buy, but the numbers tell a different story. Granted they come with a convenience factor but I still wanted to know just how much more I'm paying for that convenience. The community database is early (it's just me right now), but the idea is that over time you can see what people are actually paying at different stores. I'd love feedback on what would make this more useful.
