How do you decide which digital product to make next?

by•

Hi everyone, I'm Felipe, maker of Product Idea Kit. We're launching in less than 24 hours (@October 27th, 2026 12:01 AM PDT).

While building it, I talked to a lot of people who make ebooks, lead magnets and printables. Most of them said the hardest part isn't writing the product. It's choosing what to make, and finding out too late that nobody was searching for it.

How do you choose?

- Do you check search data before you start, or go with your gut?

- Do you test an idea before building it (a waitlist, a pre-sale, a post), or build first?

- What made you drop an idea you had already started?

For context, Product Idea Kit takes a topic and a niche and returns 5 ideas ranked by real Google search volume, then checks the one you pick for demand, category, outcome and trust. You can see a full real result here, no sign-up needed:

I'd really like to hear how you do it, even if your answer is "I just build and see what happens."
