Preempt AI - AI is powerful. Make sure it's safe too.
by•
Preempt AI scans every prompt for jailbreaks, prompt injections and PII leaks — before they reach the AI. Browser extension + API available for developers.

Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I am launching Preempt AI v2 today — a security layer for AI interactions that works for both everyday users and developers building on LLMs.
---
The problem
AI assistants are powerful. But they're wide open to abuse:
- People accidentally paste SSNs, credit cards, and patient data into chat boxes
- Attackers embed hidden instructions in documents to hijack AI behavior
- Jailbreak attempts bypass safety measures — exposing users and developers to risk
Most people have no idea this is happening.
---
What Preempt does
Scan every prompt before it leaves your keyboard.
For users → install the browser extension. A "P" icon appears in every AI chat input and silently scans in real time. Nothing changes about how you use AI — you just get warned before something goes wrong.
For developers → one call to /v1/sanitize. If a prompt is malicious, it's blocked. If it contains PII, it's encrypted — and real values are restored in the response. Zero infrastructure changes.
---
What's new in v2
🧠 Smarter ML — trained on 16,000+ real in-the-wild jailbreak prompts + 589,000+ prompt injection samples from a security research dataset. Now catches evasion tricks: typo substitution, Unicode obfuscation, roleplay framing, gamification, and model impersonation.
🌐 Multi-browser — live on Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Firefox coming next.
📄 Document scanning — upload PDFs, DOCX, images, or CSVs before sharing with AI. Extracts text, scans for hidden injections, flags PII. Yes — people really do hide prompt injections inside documents.
📊 99.65% ML accuracy · <10ms latency · 41+ attack types · 12+ languages

One thing I'd love to see is a "learning mode" where the extension explains why it flagged a particular prompt, so I can understand the reasoning and adjust my own habits. Would make the tool feel less like a black box and more like a coach for safer AI use.

@fevzi79122 - that’s a great insight, loved your thought. I’ll work on it.

A browser extension is great for personal use, but a Slack or Teams integration would be super helpful for teams to catch risky prompts in shared workflows without everyone needing to install anything separately.

@aliye166879 thank you. That’s a great point. I started with the browser extension because it’s the fastest way to protect individual AI interactions, but team-level protection is something we’re actively thinking about. Slack and Teams integrations could help organizations catch risky prompts where collaboration is already happening. Appreciate the validation for that direction.

Caught a sneaky prompt injection in my own test query, which was honestly more satisfying than expected. Setup was quick and the browser extension just sits quietly until something feels off.
Love the idea of catching PII leaks before they hit the model. One thing I'd love to see is a quick "explain why" tooltip on flagged prompts, like surfacing the exact phrase or pattern that tripped the detection, so my team can actually learn from the blocks instead of just blindly trusting them.

@magdenmahm80499 really appreciate the thoughtful feedback. Explainability is a recurring theme I hear from users and it does make a lot of sense. Helping teams understand what triggered a detection and why it was flagged can build trust and improve security awareness at the same time. I’m exploring ways to provide more context without overwhelming users, so any feedback like this is incredibly useful to me.
