PatentProof - Check patent claims against public records

by•
PatentProof helps you check the evidence behind patent claims. Enter a public URL, paste non-confidential text, or submit a patent number. It detects patent wording, checks public records, and shows what the evidence supports—and what it cannot verify.

Hey Product Hunt! 👋

A product website says “patented” or “patent pending.” But what does the public record actually show?

That's the question behind PatentProof by Applitent.

We built PatentProof to make the evidence behind patent claims easier to investigate, without requiring people to manually navigate multiple patent databases just to get started.

Here's how it works:

  • Inspect a URL: Submit a public webpage containing patent-related claims.

  • Check text: Paste public or non-confidential patent wording.

  • Look up patent numbers: Investigate specific patent publications and references.

  • Explore the evidence: See available public records, publication types, source references, and any limitations in the findings.

One principle was especially important to us: evidence is not the same as a legal conclusion.

Finding a patent publication doesn't automatically mean it protects a particular product. And failing to retrieve a record doesn't mean that no patent exists.

PatentProof is designed to make those distinctions clearer.

You can try it without creating an account.

We're especially interested in feedback from founders, inventors, researchers, and people working with intellectual property.

What would make patent claims easier for you to investigate?
