Orinami - A mind map tool where each node is a full document

Most mind map tools give each node a line of text. Once an idea grows, you copy it into a separate document, and the map and the writing drift apart. Orinami puts a full document inside every node. Lay ideas out on the map, open any node to write it properly, or switch to an outline of the same tree. The map, the outline and the documents are always one thing, so nothing gets out of sync.

Hi Product Hunt! I'm one of the two people behind Orinami. What inspired it: we planned our projects in mind maps, then rewrote everything in separate documents. The map had the structure, the documents had the substance, and within a week they no longer matched. The problem: mind map tools can't hold a real document, and documentation tools can't map. So in Orinami every node is a full document. Lay ideas out on the map, open a node to write it properly, or read the whole thing as an outline. It's one tree, so it never drifts apart. How it evolved: - Local first. Free works entirely on your device, forever, with no cloud required. - Cloud maps and live collaboration are there when a team needs them, not to lock your files in. Everything exports to PDF or an .orinami file. - We didn't want to build another tool you can only rent, so there's an on-premise version you buy once and run on your own servers, with a one-line install. - A lot of thinking now happens with AI, so Orinami supports MCP: Claude, Cursor and other assistants can read, search and edit your maps through your own API key. We're a small team in Bavaria, and the cloud version is hosted in Germany. We'll be here all day, so ask anything and tell us honestly what's missing.
