Why is it so easy to buy books but so hard to finish them?

by

I’ve been thinking a lot about this while building Oren.

Most readers I know don’t really have a discovery problem. We already have more books than we can realistically finish.

The harder problem is consistency.

You start a book excited, read for a few days, then work gets busy, your phone wins your attention, and eventually the book just sits there unfinished.

That’s one of the reasons I built Oren around reading sessions, progress, goals, streaks, and reading insights instead of just creating another digital bookshelf.

I’m curious:

What usually stops you from finishing a book once you’ve started it?

Lack of time? Losing interest? Forgetting about it? Starting too many books? Something else?

I’d genuinely like to understand how other people deal with this.
