When an agent needs to refactor an interface, querying an external vector database often yields stale or incomplete context. In Orchive IDE, we implemented an in-process, zero-copy syntax index written in Rust.

By tracking AST diffs incrementally upon every keystroke, the agent engine accesses precise symbol references, type signatures, and call hierarchies without disk I/O overhead.
