Has AI actually made us ship faster... or just made us build more?

A year ago, shipping a feature could take days.

Now you can open Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or whatever agent you use and generate a ridiculous amount of code in a few hours.

We've been seeing this firsthand while building Murmell, where we often have multiple coding agents working in parallel on the same project.

And it made me wonder if we're actually shipping faster.

Because while AI makes writing code cheaper, it also makes it incredibly easy to:

• build features nobody asked for

• create more code to review

• run several experiments at once

• accumulate technical debt faster

• spend more time coordinating agents

So maybe the bottleneck isn't writing code anymore.

Maybe it's deciding what deserves to be built , and coordinating everything that's building it.
