Hi Product Hunt, I’m Isaac, one of the two founders of Kobo.

We both have family on both ends of the Ireland to Nigeria corridor, and we’ve watched the same thing happen for years. Money gets sent every month. Banks and agents take a slice in fees and a poor rate. Then it lands in naira, which loses value the longer it sits.

Kobo is our answer. You send from Ireland, and the person at home gets a link to claim it. They don’t need an account or any knowledge of crypto. Once claimed, they can hold the balance in USDC, which is dollars rather than naira, or cash out to a Nigerian bank account.

Where we honestly are: this is a sandbox beta, so it’s test money only. We built it during a founders residency in Ireland. In a recent founder test, we ran the full real loop, naira landing in a Nigerian bank account, in a few minutes.

What we’d love from you:

If you’ve sent money to Nigeria (or any remittance corridor), tell us what hurts most.

If you know licensed FX or payments partners, or Nigerian community groups, an intro would mean a lot.
