PetMatch Introduction

by

I'm Philips, and I built Petmatch after running into a problem that turned out to be way more common than I expected: finding a mate for a dog or cat in Nigeria basically means posting in a random Facebook group and hoping someone replies.

So I built the thing that didn't exist. Petmatch is a free, simple directory where you list your pet once, and nearby owners looking for the same thing find you and reach out directly. No agents taking a cut, no fees, no app to figure out, just a quick email sign in so you can manage your own listing later.

A few things I care about that shaped how this works:

It has to stay simple. Listing a pet takes under a minute. If a feature made that slower, it didn't make the cut.

Contact happens however you want. WhatsApp, text, or a call, your choice, not ours.

It's free on purpose, not as a launch gimmick. Responsible pet care shouldn't come with a paywall, and free is the actual plan here, not a promotion I'll quietly end later.

I'll be honest about where this is right now: it's early. A small, growing number of real listings, not a massive network yet. I'd rather build this in the open with real feedback than wait until it feels "finished" to show anyone.

If you've got a dog or cat, I'd genuinely love for you to try listing one, even just to poke at it and tell me what's confusing or missing. And if you know a pet store, breeder, or vet clinic, we're inviting founding partners in free right now too.

Happy to answer literally anything in the comments, what's working, what's not, what you'd want to see next. 🐾
