My name is Fola. I'm interested in frontloading the future.
Hi everyone!
Thanks for checking in. I'll start off with where I began and where my future goals are.
I started off building a VR cardboard creation company called Maxbox VR: www.maxboxvr.com but I knew that was just the beginning of my journey as a builder. Even before then I co-founded a startup with a senior developer from Expedia, and even launched company prior when I was still in school. I could it's in my blood. All my family members are builders too.
Since I can remember, I have always just wanted to be doing the right thing at the right moment in time. That means generally being early at the beginning and contrarian compared to my peers, but loving everyone all the same. My ambition lies in solving big problems in the best way possible. Sometimes that takes a lot of time, so the goal has to be worth it. The way I think about it is that I have FOMO for the future. Imagine being born before the car was invented or the industrial revolution and looking down at humanity as hoy ghosts thinking "I just missed all of that!". So I want to front-load as much human progress in my life time as possible. Bring on the flying cars.
Blockchain was interesting to me as an alternative to the centralized world. Bitcoin's non-conformist culture appealed to my inner contrarian. In 20 3 I was hanging around in London squats with a deeply focused cypherpunk community. Bitcoin had all the steam. In later years, while still at Maxbox VR, I found many projects in blockchain interesting, one of which was Tau.
I joined Tau first as an early contributor to its crowdfund. And quickly fell in love with how useful Tau could be to the blockchain community. I just didn't know at the time just how impactful Bitcoin or Tau could be. As Bitcoin's price grew, so did it invite fraud, hacks, scams and major losses across many ecosystems.
Though I was CEO of Maxbox VR I said to Ohad (founder of Tau) "Create me and email address, i'll join, we'll sort out how we work later". And I did. I gave up Maxbox VR to my team who own it for themselves and took an entirely unpaid bizdev role at a startup called Tau for no money set. Wild, but I just want to working what I think is the next greatest thing. I'm a stickler for proving myself before I get paid, and it took me 8 months to satisfy my own conscience to take any payment whatsoever.
Since 2023 Ohad made the move to CTO and I took over as CEO. Now i'm here to make Tau do what I believe will provide some of the most impactful features for blockchain users. To discuss that we have to go back again to the centralized world. I believe people use the centralized world (Banks etc) due to peace of mind. They have "enough" security, networking, fraud prevention, trust etc for people to use them.
This doesn't exist in a form that one can guarantee in blockchain as of 2026. I can't ring my blockchain up and say I want to recall a transaction, or describe my security settings and have them enforced, or decide exactly how my money should be spent by the recipient. Well, the last one can't be done with a bank either, but that's what Tau is about.
I wanted to bring the biggest solution to blockchain's biggest problems by allowing rules to be the way that money moves and ultimately bringing peace of mind to the blockchain community. As i'm writing this Binance has been hacked for $6.3B. If anyone reading this knows someone at Binance, feel free to put them in touch!
Onwards.
