I kept tapping "Ignore Limit" on my own Screen Time, so I built an app that doesn't let me
Hey Product Hunt, I'm Ken, a senior frontend engineer, and Disciplines is the first thing I've built entirely on my own.
It started from something dumb and specific: I'd set an Apple Screen Time limit, then tap "Ignore Limit" about fifteen seconds later, every single time, zero friction. The lock itself wasn't really the issue, the issue was that once I got knocked out of an app I didn't have anything else lined up, so I just tapped back in out of boredom.
So I built an app that ties the blocking to what I'm actually supposed to be doing that day. Tasks, habits, and goals live in the same place as the blocking, so a focus session locks the distracting stuff and points you at something concrete to do instead of just leaving you staring at a lock screen. It's less about the blocking itself and more about having an actual routine behind it.
Disciplines: App Blocker, would genuinely love to hear what you think if you give it a try.
Curious either way, what's actually worked for you to stay off your phone during focus time, and what's failed?
I'll be in the comments.
