Hi from Vietnam! Building a POS app for small shops, cafes and spas

by•

Hi everyone, I'm Hung from Viet Nam.

I build Your Store, a point of sale app for small shops, cafes, restaurants and spas. It runs on the phone shop owners already have and keeps selling when the internet drops, which happens a lot here.

I'm launching on Product Hunt next Tuesday (Nov 10) and still learning how this community works. Happy to share what I've learned building for small businesses, and I'd love to hear from other makers working on tools for local shops.

What's one thing you wish you'd known before your first launch?

Welcome Hung, good luck on the 10th! Selling offline is the hard part done right. One pattern from my app that matters even more for a POS that syncs later: make every write safe to retry. In my admin panel, credits sent with a support reply are granted in the same transaction that records the reply, keyed by an id the client created, so a Send that is retried after a dropped connection never grants twice. A sale queued offline and replayed when the internet returns is the same problem: if each sale carries its own id from the moment it is rung up, a double sync becomes harmless. The other rule I like: when a read fails, land on the safe default everywhere, never on whatever the screen showed last.
