Indistractable - The app blocker you can't talk yourself out of

Lock your iPhone into a focus session with no ignore button. To quit early: scan a QR code you hid across the room, tap an NFC tag,get your accountability partner's approval, or spend a limited emergency unlock. Quitting is always possible but never accidental.

Hey Product Hunt 👋

I'm Tom, an indie dev from the UK, and Indistractable is my attempt to fix the thing that made every screen-time tool fail me personally: the moment you most need the limit is the exact moment you're allowed to dismiss it.

I've been building apps for quite a few years now and always get "shiny object" syndrome and rewriting things or getting easily distracted by apps on my phone! I found some of the other app blockers too easy to skip so I decided to build my own that has an accountability partner! This means I need to get approval from my wife before I can stop working on something and unlock my phone.

So I built a commitment device instead of a limit:

🔒 Pick a mode, lock in. Choose the only apps you want available (maps, music, messages, say), everything else is blocked phone-wide. Or use a more traditional block first mechanism.

🚪 Every exit is deliberate. To end a session early, your accountability partner approves it from their own phone, hard to doomscroll when someone you respect has to sign off. On lighter modes: scan a QR code you've physically hidden (the walk usually changes your mind), tap an NFC tag, or spend one of a limited few emergency unlocks.

🎚️ You choose the strictness. Normal, Strict, or Hardcore, decided when you're at your strongest, enforced when you're not.

v1.3 just shipped: automatic schedules, category blocking, NFC tag unlock, and a full redesign.

A word on the obvious comparison: if you just want NFC/QR friction, Foqos is free, open source, and genuinely good, use it. Indistractable exists for the moment physical friction isn't enough. A determined you can always walk to your own QR code; it can't talk its way past a person. That human layer is the part that can't be free, it's a live approval system with real servers.

Being honest about the rough edges: it's iPhone-only (iOS 18+), and it's a paid subscription ($4.99/mo or $19.99/yr) because it's just me and ongoing server costs for the partner-approval system.

A personal note: I built Indistractable in the evenings around a full-time job, mostly during hours I used to lose to my own phone, a fact which is not lost on me. The long term dream is to do this full-time one day, and to take my family on a proper holiday off the back of something I made. Today's a step toward that, so every bit of feedback here genuinely means a lot.
