Hey — first post here, so a proper intro (and why I built HomePlot)
I'm Ken, I run an off-grid property in Arizona (solar, well water, the whole thing), and I just launched HomePlot on Product Hunt today.
Backstory on why I built it: between animals, plants, property maintenance, and keeping the rig running, I was tracking everything across a spreadsheet, a notes app, and a shoebox of receipts — none of which talked to each other. Every time I looked for a "homestead app," it was either built for big commercial ag operations or was just a repurposed spreadsheet template with a nicer logo. Nothing treated animals, land, and vehicles as one connected picture, and nothing actually knew my specific setup when I needed advice.
So I built HomePlot: animals, plants, property, and your rig all in one place, with real history and photos, plus an AI assistant (Rusty) that actually knows your records — so if you ask about an animal that seems off or a check-engine code, you get pointed to a real vet/electrician/mechanic when it matters instead of a generic Google answer. There's also a chores/points system for kids with a genuinely private kid mode (no ads, no AI access, no financial data), and real support for van life/RV/skoolie folks — boondocking logs, tank levels, hitch calculators.
Would love to hear how the rest of you are handling this right now — is everyone just cobbling together spreadsheets and notes apps too, or is there something out there I completely missed? Happy to answer anything about how it works or why I made the calls I did.
