What's the most annoying thing about downloading big files on Windows?

by•

Hey everyone 👋 I'm Santosh Adhikari, and I'm launching Haul here soon.

Quick backstory: my internet drops a few times a day, and every time it did, my browser would give up on a big download near the end and I'd start again from zero. So I built a download manager that doesn't do that.

What Haul does today:

• Splits each file across up to 32 connections, so big downloads finish much faster

• Picks up exactly where it stopped after a dropped line, sleep or a restart

• Catches downloads straight from Chrome, Edge, Brave, Firefox and 4 more browsers

• Saves video from the sites you watch as one MP4

• Queues and a scheduler, so it can download overnight and shut the PC down when it's done

It's Windows only for now, and the Mac version is coming. It's free for 1 month only.

Before launch day I'd love to hear from you:

1. What breaks or annoys you most when you download big files?

2. If you've used IDM, Free Download Manager or JDownloader, what made you stop, or stay?

I'm reading every reply and the best ideas go straight onto the roadmap.
