When someone asks ChatGPT or Google AI Mode a question, the AI usually doesn't search for that exact question.
It splits it up.
This is called query fan-out: the AI turns one question into several related sub-searches, runs them in parallel and combines the results into one answer with sources. Google calls them "a set of concurrent, related queries."
More and more people ask AI models instead of Google: "best agency near me", "which CRM for a small team", "is X worth it". The answer decides which brands they see and trust.
We're launching growResonance tomorrow: an open source tool that shows how AI models talk about your brand, where you rank against competitors and what to do to improve.
Track how AI models talk about your brand. Find the questions buyers ask, see where you rank against competitors and get tasks to improve. Open source (AGPL-3.0). Self-host it or go hosted from €20/month.
