For dictation, you choose and download a model. Local recognition runs on your Mac. Optional cloud transcription is a separate configuration, so you can choose the processing path that suits you. To try it, download Gojo and start with a task you repeat every day. Copy a few items and search the history, stage a file while switching apps, or dictate a paragraph into a text field. To answer your question about notch vs dedicated app: quick recent items and dictation feel right in the notch, but I'd still keep a full app for long-term clipboard history and snippets (I work on Paste, so fair warning on bias). Local speech models with cloud as a separate opt-in is a thoughtful default. Does the clipboard history persist across restarts?
