The five year plan I wrote and then hid from.
Two years ago I sat down and wrote out where this business would be in five years. Revenue targets, team size, the whole picture. I was specific. I was confident.
I found that file last week and read it start to finish, and my first instinct was to close it and pretend I had not seen it.
Not because the numbers were far off. Because the direction was wrong. The person who wrote that plan wanted things I no longer want, and built a picture of success I would now actively avoid.
The uncomfortable part is not that I changed my mind. It is that I spent two years making decisions that were quietly serving a goal I had already abandoned without noticing.
Have you ever gone back to an old plan and found you were working toward something you no longer believe in?

Sometimes the hardest part is admitting that a goal no longer fits you after spending so much time on it I think it’s important to review your plans regularly and give yourself permission to change direction without seeing it as failure
